Helen & Josh - Chapel Hill Elopement
Another intimate elopement is in the books. 2020 is shaping up to be the year of Intimate Elopements for the Raleigh-Durham area and honestly I’m not upset about it. Over the years I’ve heard so many stories from my clients about not having the wedding they wanted because they gave into pressure from friends or family, but with these intimate elopements everything is up to them, and they get to curate what is most important.
Helen and Josh were supposed to wed in April at the Durham Arts Council, but the world had other plans. These two are no strangers to the reality of what is happening right now, Helen works in the Infectious Disease Ward at a hospital in Philly, while Josh just graduated Med School at Duke. Since their families live all through the US, their wedding was attended by friends from school, and Josh’s sister.
They honored Durham throughout the day by making gimlets from Durham Distillery Gin, catering from Med Deli, and of course a selection of pies from East Durham Bake Shop. They chose Pecan Pie and Coconut Chess Pie for Josh’s dad, and topped of the trio with a Strawberry Rhubarb.
Josh and Helen also wanted to go to Durham to take some portraits around town, and to show case one of their favorite places, The Carolina Theater. The gorgeous flowers were from one of my favorite florists, Colorfield Farms, another Durham staple.
At the reception they played a game called Bottles, which I can’t quite explain but was fun to watch and ended when the glass in a players hand shattered (don’t worry no one was hurt) but you might want to keep scrolling til the very end to watch the madness unfold.
Also our good friends Jon Warlick Media captured an amazing wedding video for them. Planning by Paisley and Pearl Events
