Allie & Shayla - Merritt's Pasture Elopement
When Allie reached out to me about having a small, meaningful elopement, I was thrilled. They wanted a simple, yet beautiful wedding with Allie’s son and their best friend as witnesses.
Allie and Shayla met in 2018 at an event called Tenacious Ten in Seattle. Allie is a coxswain, a rowing term I had to define, and as soon she spoke she had Shayla’s undivided attention. They connected over their love of rowing and a few weeks later it was official. After a year of long-distance dating, Shayla relocated to Chapel Hill, NC to be with Allie and her son. They plan to join a local masters rowing program once social distancing is a thing of the past!
I would agree that they got their beautiful wedding. In fact, the fog over the trees in the field where they held their ceremony made me think we were in the mountains of North Carolina, not a pasture in the Piedmont. One of my favorite parts of the day was having surprise visitors (two little deer) join the ceremony and a coffee date that included a video chat with friends and family.
