Cozy Indoor Engagement with Amber & Alexa

Nothing is more romantic and genuine than being able to capture a couple in their home.

Alexa and Amber invited me to come help them celebrate their engagement in their cozy home, the place in which they spend a lot of time together with their four cats. (In the photos we have Thelma and Louise, our furry feline companions. Not pictured are Winston & Ferguson). They wanted their engagement photos to reflect their cozy lifestyle full of chai tea lattes and crossword puzzles and lots and lots of cat snuggles. As two nurturers by nature, they are both extremely empathetic and introspective and self aware. They both value vulnerability and connection and a love for Brene Brown.

As they shared their back story, I learned that Amber is a nurse and Alexa is a teacher. Both do not participate in social media and instead spend a lot of time in nature. We had the chance to go capture their lifestyle in action as we explored some of their favorite spots in the neighborhood trail which led to a nearby creek.

Alexa shared with me that Amber, who has known she was gay since 11, is the first girl they ever dated. She loves how supportive Amber is and due to the connection they have felt since the day they met, she has always known that Amber and her are meant to be. Having met on a dating app, the couple actually waited 6 months before going out on their first date and the rest is truly history after that! Having been together for a year and half, Alexa finally decided it was time to take their relationship to a new level and asked Amber’s Pop for permission. When she finally popped the question during breakfast, corn muffin went flying in the air as Amber enthusiastically said “yes!”.
