Grungy Partner Party at Motorco & Duke Garden Partner Portraits with Gena & Andrew

Gena & Andrew have been together for 12 years and officially married for 1. Gena works in Museum Education and Andrew is a teacher who just recently joined the foreign service. They currently reside in Washington D.C. but were once inhabitants of the Raleigh area. They actually mentioned that they will be off on their next adventure soon, one that is taking them to Poland.

When they reached out about my services, they mentioned their dislike for the word wedding and instead decided to have a “partner party,” with the hopes to be able to celebrate their life together. It was also a great time for them to say goodbye to their close friends and family in the area before moving abroad. Funnily enough, my previous clients Clara & Vivek referred them to me, as they attended the partner party that was thrown by Gena & Andrew. The day started with stunning portraits taken around Duke Gardens, which offers such a variety of botanical themes to work with for your engagement or wedding needs. I especially enjoyed the bamboo garden because the couples outfits were such a mesmerizing complement to the warm hues of the display and truthfully Gena’s dress deserved it’s own moment! And afterwards there was a grungy after party at Motorco with so much celebration and fun. The dance floor was such a hit, just scroll to see all the fun that was had!

I think it’s rather beautiful when two people are so firm in their understanding of one another, where they don’t need the pomp and circumstance to feel married. This connection and understanding is so hard to come by nowadays because a lot of people still celebrate the traditional ideas and values on relationships and weddings. But I truly love this alternative celebration that Gena & Andrew chose to express their love and receive love from their community!
